What Happened at X Games

Emotions are always high at X Games, but this year’s competition was
more powerful than others. Still in shock from the loss of defending
halfpipe champion and industry icon Sarah Burke, skiers paid homage to
Burke by dedicating their runs to her, flying pieces of “believe in
Sarah” flair and speaking to how she would have wanted.

Thursday night, the entire show stopped to pay tribute to Sarah, and
what she had done for the sport.  She was remembered as a driving force
in getting women’s skiing to exist in the same field as men’s as well as
a friend and mentor to a wide community of skiers.
