In preparation for its grand opening in November, Lucky’s Bakehouse and Creamery is giving customers a taste of what they are all about. From 3 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30, the bakery will be giving away free samples of seasonal treats, including all-natural ice cream, cakes and pastries. The bakery has also revealed some new cupcake flavors, including chocolate s’mores, pumpkin with cinnamon buttercream and vegan chai with ginger frosting. All of these fall goodies are created by Jen Bush, a nationally recognized chef who served as a pastry chef for Big Red F Restaurant Group for 10 years. That’s right, the Boorito is back. In the spirit of Halloween, as well as in the interest of promoting sustainable food, Chipotle customers dressed in their Halloween costumes will get their choice of a burrito, burrito bowl, salad, or order of tacos for only $2 starting at 4 p.m. Oct. 31. Proceeds of up to $1 million will go to the Cultivate Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on creating a more sustainable and healthful food supply and raising awareness about food issues.
