Senate Dems point to climate change in Sandy hearing

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee saw tears and surprising aggression from Democrats in a recent hearing on Hurricane Sandy.

“The deniers are wrong,” said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.). “They are just plain dead wrong.”

Whitehouse and other East Coast senators recounted damage from the hurricane and urged lawmakers to recognize the importance of climate change. Sen Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), who sits on the panel and has called climate change “a hoax,” was not in attendance.
