The new Laughing Goat

Correction: Vail's Gourmet on Gore was incorrectly listed as Aug. 20. The date is actually Aug. 30.

The baby Goat is born

Just in time for a baby royal to be born, Boulder has its very own baby to celebrate.

The Laughing Goat opened its new location, The Goat at the Garage, on July 13 and hosted a grand opening with its partner and neighbor, the Green Garage. The new and unexpected pair are located at 55th and Pearl. Also located on the CU campus in Norlin Hall, The Laughing Goat carries Denver-roasted, premium-estate, shade-grown organic and Fair Trade Certified coffee from the Kaladi Brothers. The new location will also serve the local air-roasted coffee, and, according to a press release, offers quiet views overlooking Valmont Butte as well as easy access to Goose Creek Bike Path and Boulder Creek Bike Path.

“What I love is the unique opportunity we have to be catalysts and curators of community,” says Laughing Goat co-owner Johnny Jenkins. “I love watching the relationships with and between all our regulars deepen and evolve. A lot of new creative and vital relationships are being formed, as well as many being renewed.”

Feta takes on Longmont

Murray’s Cheese Shops have teamed up with Mediterranean lifestyle expert Tara Brennan to celebrate the arrival of Real Greek Feta, an artisan cheese made from sheep’s milk. Brennan, author of the bestselling cookbook Scoop It Chop It Cook It, will be at the South Hover King Soopers in Longmont on Sunday, Aug. 11.

According to a press release, she will demonstrate how to prepare an assortment of feta dishes, including salads, appetizers and summer-ready snacks.

Through a partnership with Greek cheese advocate Pantelis Rapanakis, president of ODIPPAF, the organization charged with protecting and promoting Greek PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) feta cheese, Murray’s is endeavoring to keep the ancient tradition of feta alive.

With a one-pound purchase of Real Greek Feta, the first 48 attendees at the 995 S. Hover Street King Soopers will receive a complimentary copy of Brennan’s cookbook, which contains 36 Mediterranean recipes.

IHOP doesn’t waffle when it comes to waffles

For those too “sophisticated” for pancakes with funny faces, IHOP has introduced its new Belgian waffle in three flavors — Berries & Cream, Cherries & Cream and Bananas & Cream.

“Waffles have always been an important part of the IHOP heritage, and as we’ve done with our Brioche French Toast and Signature Pancakes this year, we’ve found a way to bring this beloved favorite to a completely different level,” Senior Vice President of Marketing Natalia Franco says in a press release.

This decadent breakfast option will only be available in restaurants through Sept. 8, so IHOP urges patrons to indulge sooner rather than later. However, the kid in all of us may still insist that we order the Funny Face Pancake, just for good measure. The Boulder IHOP is located at 1675 28th St.

Vail’s Gourmet on Gore returns to Vail Village for Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer, the last time to wear white or seersucker, rampant sales and — for those who remember the holiday for its origins — a celebration of the economic and social contributions of workers. This Labor Day weekend, the eighth annual open-air culinary and beverage festival Gourmet on Gore will hit Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street in Vail to showcase Vail Valley’s restaurants. The event promises live music as well as a variety of food and drinks.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. Gourmet on Gore will kick things off with a tasting tour on Friday, Aug. 30, and end on Sunday with Brunch on Bridge Street. Chef demonstrations, mixology seminars and abundant food and drink will add to the epicurean atmosphere, according to a press release. If you attend, make the most of your last few days to wear a white suit.

Bistro 503 grand opening salsa celebration

Bistro 503 recently relocated to the Lafayette Marketplace, next to Jax Ranch & Home, on the south side of South Boulder Road.

The restaurant, which offers a variety of South American cuisine, will celebrate its expansion into a larger space on Friday, July 26. Bistro 503 will host Grupo Quemando, a salsa and merengue band, starting at 9 p.m.

“Bistro 503 prides itself in creating worldly creations with fresh, high-quality ingredients that are typical international cuisine. We are honored to host Grupo Quemando, presenting a variety of music that complements our dining experience,” says Bistro 503 owner Ado Salguero in a press release. The restaurant is now located at 400 W. South Boulder Road in Lafayette.
