The Sierra Club and a "coalition of a wide group of environmental allies" will host the Colorado Flood Recovery Weekend Oct. 5-6 in several cities, a Sierra Club press release says.
The Sierra Club's partners will be Mudslingers, Boulder Flood Relief, Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan’s Purse, Rocky Mountain Christian Church, and the cities of Boulder and Longmont.
Both days will start with cleanup events in Boulder, Longmont, Lyons and Greeley, in which volunteers will clean up homes and parks. A volunteer appreciation event will take place Oct. 6, at which speakers "will discuss the importance of taking direct action both locally to help our neighbors and nationally with supporting measures to combat climate change disruption," the press release says.
The Sierra Club says Colorado's Front Range has experienced drought, fires and flooding that "raise serious alarms about the ever-increasing impacts climate change disruption is having on cities across the nation."
