Election Guide 2013: Rice for Thompson School District R2-J

By Boulder Weekly Staff

Thompson School District R2-J
Director District A
Names appear as they do on the sample ballot. Endorsement is in bold.

Jeff Berg
Kathleen D. Hatanaka
Donna Rice

This district represents Big Thompson, Ponderosa and Van Buren elementary schools; Bill Reed Middle School; and Ferguson and Loveland high schools. Candidates are Kathleen D. Hatanaka, Jeff Berg and Donna Rice. Hatanaka has been active on the Big Thompson’s PTA, including as president, and on the Thompson’s Master Plan and School Advisory committees. Rice has had a long career in education, including working at a Thompson School District elementary school, and as a professor in Wyoming.

Berg, the incumbent, was appointed to the board in August 2012. He told the Loveland Reporter-Herald the district has been focused on managing revenue issues since his appointment, but now the focus should be turning to student achievement. To that end, we give Rice our endorsement for her long history as an educator.

not sure how the BW can endorse Rice when she is NOT in favor of Amendment 66, which the BW DOES support. little help clarifying, please?

I'm trying to find ANY candidate for SB that supports 66, as I do. I am not finding one. The least-opposed seems to be Hatanaka going by one article in the Reporter-Herald.
