Kentucky AG won’t appeal ruling on out of state same sex marriages

WFPL public radio in Louisville, Kentucky is reporting that after a federal judge ruled that the state must recognize same-sex marriages from other states, the state Attorney General, Jack Conway, has decided not to appeal the ruling.

In his announcement, Conway said he didn’t believe an appeal was likely
to be successful. He also said he believed further appeal amounted to
defending discrimination.

However, shortly after that announcement, came another from Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear that he will hire a lawyer to defend against the lawsuit that lead to the order from Judge John Heyburn.
