Boulder Creek Hometown Festival, Friday, Aug. 29- Monday, Sept. 1, Central Park, Boulder Public Library Park.

It’s not exactly in the town charter or anything, but hot time summer in the city kicks off with the Boulder Creek Festival in May. Cold time skiing in the mountains announces its return this week with the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival, which is, well… pretty similar but with slightly more risk of rain.

There will be four days worth of music, food and top-notch shenanigans, including a pie-eating contest, a classic car show and The Great Zucchini Race, which is in point of fact, superior to all those other zucchini races.

Things will kick off with a performance from Wish We Were Floyd at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, and go until the zucchinis roll home on Monday evening.
