Adventure Film

The Adventure Film Festival is a celebration of adventures in their many forms and a bolster to support “the heroic journey and the narrative of adventure as a force for awakening and change.” Films cover the stories of a dancer who swims with tiger sharks to protest their slaughter, scientists using camera traps to document wildlife in Africa, a bicycle trip that loops around Peru’s Huayhuash Mountains, an attempted repeat of the legendary Jeff Lowe and Will Gadd route “Deep Throat,” Cedar Wright and Alex Honnold in their second combined biking-and-climbing masochistic undertaking, Ryan Van Duzer’s point-ofview film of the 50K ultra marathon around Black Rock City at Burning Man, and an update on distance runner Kilian Jornet as he tries to break the speed record on the Matterhorn.

Travel with a 90-year-old World War II veteran as he returns to the beaches of Normandy to fly fish the site of the D-Day Invasion he participated in (Mending the Line). Meet the man who’s trying to sell British parents on the importance of nature for their kids (Project Wild Thing), and the man who’s traveling the world to find and preserve seeds. Ride along with Timmy O’Neill’s film on Sean O’Neill, paralyzed from the waist down, as he attempts to climb Telluride’s Bridal Veil Falls.

Events include the Adventure Street Fair, the Adventure Film and Photo Workshop and a Family and Kids Show from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The 10th annual festival takes place Oct. 2 to Oct. 4 at the Boulder Theater and throughout downtown. Additional information is at www.adventurefilm.org.
