Pre-schoolers and kindergarteners enjoy a play-based curriculum with an emphasis on movement and sensory integration. Children learn mathematics, literacy and science through practical activities indoors in natural, home-like classrooms and outside in nature.

In 1st through 5th grades, our unique approach to education guides elementary students with a remarkably rich Waldorf curriculum of mathematics, sciences, language arts, literature, history and geography as well as German, Mandarin, Eurythmy (an expressive dance style), physical education, handwork, painting and instrumental music.

In middle school, our students embrace rigorous learning that addresses the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of older children. The academic curriculum helps students make connections among diverse subject areas which helps to cultivate the seeds of critical thinking.

At Shepherd Valley, we are excited about our expanded farming activities, including permaculture and the introduction of farm animals, on our spacious, 38-acre campus.

If you are looking for an independent school in Boulder County and would like more information about Waldorf education, then please feel free to contact our Admissions Director, Ruth Godberfforde at (303)652-0130 or enrollment@shepherdvalley.org.
