The Forgotten: Women in Classical Music

2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, The Performance Space, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder, 303-440-7826

Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky. The most popular names of classical music have one thing in common: they’re all men. On Jan. 21 The Dairy Center for the Arts is paying homage to the lesser-known women in classical music. One of these composers is 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen, who was also a philosopher, writer, poet, a Benedictine abbess and is known as Saint Hildegard. The concert will also feature performances from Boulder-based Lyric Duo, minimalist Ann Southam and work from 84-year-old west coast composer Emma Lou Diemer. Tickets are $12.
