101-word fiction contest

Submit your words; win some of ours

Boulder Weekly is launching its first annual fiction contest this spring.

Entries should be 101 words or fewer. Yes you can enter more than once. Need inspiration? Try these guys: www.101words.org.

We’ve recruited authors Laird Hunt and Daniel Grandbois to assist in the judging.

Winners will receive prizes we’re working hard to determine. We’re thinking gift cards to restaurants and maybe stores, tasty things and desirable objects, but maybe you’ll just have to let the editorial staff take you out to lunch. We’re not that bad to spend time with.

On second thought, maybe you want real, tangible things. So we’ll let you take your pick of the latest submissions to the BW bookshelf. Recent entries include Peter Heller’s The Painter, T. Geronimo Johnson’s Welcome to Braggsville and Cheryl Della Pietra’s Gonzo Girl.

Winning entries will be published in the paper in early April and writers will be invited to read at a local event that will no doubt include alcoholic beverages.

Submit by March 20 to editorial@boulderweekly.com. (Not smart enough to know how to hyperlink that. Sorry guys.)
