BOULDER COUNTY CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL

The 2nd annual Boulder Craft Beer Festival returns to Central Park in Boulder this Saturday, Aug. 22 from 1-5 p.m.

Craft brewers from all over the county will bring their beers to the festival, which includes lawn games, food and live music.

Attendees will get to sample beer from over 25 breweries, including: 12 Degree, Asher, Avery, Boulder Beer, City Star, Crystal Springs, FATE, Finkel & Garf, Gravity, J. Wells, Lefthand, Mountain Sun, New Planet, Oasis, Odd 13, Oskar Blues, The Post, Sanitas, Shine, Twisted Pine, Upslope, Walnut, West Flanders and Wild Woods.

Music comes courtesy of the Rail Splitters and the Strange Americas, who will split the stage throughout the day.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild, which provides resources for and ensures the quality and diversity of the local craft beer industry.

Tickets are $35 for general admission, which includes a commemorative beer glass and unlimited samples. The $50 VIP ticket includes the unlimited tastings and glass but throws in an extra hour of tasting without the crowds and a commemorative T-shirt. MORE FRESH FOOD COMING TO THE HILL

The creative health food chain Freshii opened this week on Broadway in Boulder just in time for the start of classes.

The whole idea behind Freshii is its completely customizable menu of soups, salads, wraps, bowls, burritos and so much more. You can get smoothies or juices or even froyo. Froyo! With dozens of options for eaters, Freshii will probably suit any healthy hankering. For more information, visit www.freshii.com or just stop in to their new location.

BEER-IVERSARY

Liquid Mechanics in Lafayette will be celebrating its one year anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 22 from noon to midnight.

At least 18 beers will be available at the bash (the list is still being worked out), and additional tap spots will be installed on the patio and in the parking lot in order to accommodate the masses. Three food trucks will also be at the celebration: Chow Down, Burgersmith and Butcher & The Blonde.

There will be live music from Rogue 2, and lawn games like cornhole and ladder ball. Kid’s activities and raffles will also go down. For more information, visit www.liquidmechanicsbrewing.com.

LABOR DAY AT THE POST

If you’re not planning one final summer getaway for Labor Day weekend, then you could at least plan to get out in Boulder County over the holiday. It’s the least you could do, man. Come on. Here’s at least one idea:

The Post in Lafayette is hosting a Labor Day picnic on Monday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Grilling on the Yoder Smoker will commence early and continue throughout the day, resulting in BBQ specials for all those who attend. The Hop Pickers will bring live music from 1-4 p.m. And of course there will be craft beer flowing all day.
