From Austria to Arugula

On July 7, Arugula Bar e Ristorante will host its summer wine dinner, a five-course meal featuring biodynamic wines from the Meinklang winery of Austria. Arugula chef and proprietor Alec Schuler says that the menu will be decided once he knows what produce will be available.

“My goal is to make the dinner 100 percent from Colorado, and preferably Boulder,” he says.

The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $65 per person. Arugula will host its late summer wine dinner on Sept. 22 and an autumn dinner on Nov. 10.

For reservations, call 303-443- 5100. For more on Meinklang Winery, visit www.meinklang.at/.

Drink beer, help gorillas

Wynkoop Brewing Company recently released its Silverback Pale Ale, its second hand-canned beer.

According to the brewery, it is a “balanced beer with a citrusy aroma, crisp pale malt flavors and a satisfying hop character throughout.” The beer has a hoppy finish, 40 International Bittering Units, and is 5.5 percent alcohol by volume.

Fifty percent of all profits from the sale of the beer will go to the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, which works to protect gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of The Congo.

Bon appetit

The Alliance Francaise de Denver will host its Fourth Annual French Summer Soiree Benefit from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on July 23 at Denver Botanical Gardens. Proceeds from the event support the Alliance’s scholarship program and help underwrite costs for cultural and artistic events all year. Tickets are $55 for Alliance Franaise members and $65 for nonmembers. For more information, call 303-831-0304 or visit www.afdenver.org/Bonjour/ Soiree.htm.
