This week, my friends, it is Cinnamon Apple Crumble with Cinnamon Whipped Cream.
That’s a mouthful of a title, but one bite and you just might be rendered speechless. Yeah, that’s some big props to this recipe — it’s just that good. Of course I like apples with cinnamon. I mean who really doesn’t? But this dessert kind of features the cinnamon instead of giving it a supporting role. You dollop that cinnamon whipped cream on top, and you have one little spicy scoop of goodness. Now that sounds like a good Food Network Show.
I have mentioned before I like to leave the peels on the apples. A little lazy, you might say. Perhaps, but actually I like the texture of the apples with a little crunch and peel; I don’t care for apples that have been baked into oblivion and come out like a jar of applesauce in my pie or crumble. Nothing against applesauce. I know it’s a crowd-pleaser in many circles, and is always a hit after a root canal.
Well, applepalooza rolls on as I am off to bake apple tartlets for yet another gathering. Please do me the favor of baking this tasty crumble and reporting back. If I’m in an apple fog, I would like you to all be there with me. No, I do not work for the Apple Commission. How you like them apples?
Now, follow the directions, put some love into it and invite me over when it’s done.

5-6 apples cored and sliced 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 cup flour 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup quick cook oatmeal 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl, toss apples, lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread into ungreased 9x13inch baking pan.
In medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oatmeal, cinnamon, ginger and salt. Rub the butter into the flour mixture using your fingers until mix resembles crumbs. Pour the mixture over top of the apples. Bake for 40-45
minutes. Take out and cool for about 20 minutes if you want to serve at room temperature, or cool completely. Scoop into serving bowl and dollop with cinnamon whipped cream, Enjoy!
Cinnamon Whipped Cream
1 cup heavy whipped cream 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
In chilled bowl, beat ingredients until stiff peaks form.
