Copper Mountain kicks off ski season this weekend

By David Accomazzo

Copper Mountain turned on the lifts and opened the parking lot gates today, marking opening day with live music and discounted tickets to Copper’s new indoor/outdoor terrain park training area.

Copper, claiming an 18-inch base, has three lifts and four trails open, totaling 60 acres. The open trails are the Main Vein and Rhapsody trails accessed American Eagle lift, the Ptarmigan Trail accessed by the Excelerator lift, as well as the Eagle Jib Park with multiple box, rail and jump features. The Easy Rider lift, with access to beginner’s terrain, is also open.

Copper will be celebrating opening weekend with an event called Lift Off, which will feature The Rapture, with the Heyday and DJ Mike Relm opening. Copper is also opening Woodward at Copper, a 20,000-square-foot facility complete with foam pits, trampolines, and skate park obstacles to train those who wish to get tricky.
