Benefit for Fourmile fire victims

On Sept. 27, Dave Query and the Big Red F Restaurant Group, in conjunction with John Platt at Q’s Restaurant and Bradford Heap’s restaurants Salt and Colterra, will host the Fourmile Benefit Dinner at the Hotel Boulderado. The night will include a four-course dinner prepared by awardwinning chefs, cocktail hour with mixologist Mark Stoddard, a live performance by eTown’s Nick & Helen Forster and friends, and an auction with the Gary Corbett Auction Group. All of the proceeds from tickets sales, the silent auction and the live auction will benefit the Boulder County Firefighters Association. Tickets are $125 per person. For more information visit www.bigredf.com.

Artisan food market

On Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., The Root Sellers artisan food cooperative will host Taste of Place, a marketplace for amateur food artisans and artisan food enthusiasts. The aim is to provide a venue for people to sell products that come from their own kitchens, pantries and backyards.

Taste of Place celebrates the picklers, canners, gardeners, cheese-makers and bread-bakers that may not have access to commercial kitchens and industrial manufacturing facilities, or that might not be ready to jump through the regulatory hoops necessary to sell foods in more traditional venues. More than 30 vendors are already slated to participate.

The event will take place at 3280 Valmont St., Boulder, and membership in The Root Sellers is required to attend the event. Membership is free and you can sign up at the door on the day of the event. For more information, visit. www.therootsellers.org.
