Let’s hear it for an affordable breathable jacket designed to take more abuse than Dan Hawkins. The Hawk may have taken a forced knee, but the new Rad hardshell from Sierra Designs won’t no matter the outdoor elements beatdown.
This waterproof breathable jacket is constructed with Tropozone #L fabric, which not only with prevents the dreaded SNL infamous “schweddy balls” syndrome, but also in Boulder style has no solvents or PVC in the seam tape. The Rad offers up monster old school ventilation pit zips and a roomy cut for layering and clearance for a brain bucket. Five pockets for stashing all the paraphernalia that the backcountry demands these days, electronic and otherwise, round out the package. At $239, the price is worth it.
