Four finalists have been chosen for the position of dean of the CU Law School, CU officials announced today.
The finalists are Gregory Hicks, professor of law and former interim dean at the University of Washington School of Law; Lawrence Mitchell, Theodore Rinehart Professor of Business Law and executive director of the Center for Law, Economics and Finance at George Washington University Law School; Margaret Raymond, William G. Hammond Professor of Law at the University of Iowa College of Law; and Philip Weiser, senior adviser for technology and innovation to the National Economic Council Director and professor of law at the University of Colorado Law School.
Each will visit the campus for on-campus interviews and an open forum. The first forum will feature Weiser, on Feb. 14 in the Wittemyer Courtroom at 5:30 p.m. Hicks will be available for public questions on Feb. 21, also at the Wittemyer Courtroom at 5:30 p.m. Raymond will have his forum on Feb. 24, at the same time and location. Mitchell’s forum will be held March 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Wolf Law, room 207.
The candidates are vying for the position left by David Getches, the current dean, who will be completing his eighth year in the position in June. He will remain at CU as a law professor. The post is expected to be filled by July 1.
