Police nab bomb suspect in south Boulder

By Boulder Weekly Staff

Boulder police arrested Earl Albert Moore, 65, the primary suspect in the recent bomb attempt at Southwest Mall in Littleton, this morning at the King Soopers in south Boulder, at 3600 Table Mesa Dr.

According to reports from a 1:30 press briefing at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Golden, King Soopers shoppers and employees reported the man’s suspicious activity to police, and they arrested Moore in the grocery store parking lot.

Apparently, Moore was in the Starbucks seating area for approximately 45 minutes reading a newspaper before a customer recognized him from media reports.

On April 20, a Southwest Mall employee reported a fire in the mall, and investigators found two unexploded homemade bombs: a pipe bomb and a bomb made with propane canisters, according to media reports.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the United States Attorney’s Office in Colorado were involved in the investigation, in which photos of Moore were circulated after he was identified as a suspect.

According to reports, Moore got out of federal prison on parole on April 13 after doing time for a bank robbery in West Virginia in 2005.
