A field day for grown-ups

 Boulder-based
EVOL Foods and YMCA of Boulder Valley will host an outdoor adult “field day” on
Saturday, June 18, at the YMCA in Lafayette. A
registration fee of $25 includes access to all EVOL Games events, a
commemorative shirt, lunch, a chance at prizes and a ticket to the EVOL Games
after-party.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the YMCA Strong
Kids Campaign, which provides programming and scholarships to youth and
families in the Boulder Valley community.

Activities
will begin at 9 a.m. and will end at 2:30 p.m. with an awards ceremony.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events,
including a gunny sack race, softball throw, 10-minute run, 50-yard dash, show
kick, obstacle course, three-legged race, jump rope, tug of war and kickball.
The after-party will be held at Martino’s Pizzeria.

Airport Day lands in Boulder

The 6th Annual Airport Day will be held on Saturday, June 18, at the
Boulder Airport from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Festivities will begin with a hot air balloon launch between 6:30 and 7
a.m. The aircraft exhibit will open to the public at 9 a.m. Several different
kinds of planes, including WWII planes, gliders and an Air Force huey
helicopter, will be stationary during the event so participants can look
inside, talk to pilots and take pictures. The event will also include
fire and rescue trucks, food vendors and face painting.

 The festivities will also include National Weather Service
Spotter Training from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a USO-style WWII-era ball. The ball
begins at 6 p.m. in the Blue Hangar, and guests can enjoy a night of dancing,
1940’s inspired music, re-enactors and more.

A
matter of balance

Boulder County Aging Services is holding A Matter of Balance
workshops aimed at helping older adults reduce the fear of falling and increase
activity.

The workshops launched in Boulder this week are located at the
East Boulder Senior Center, located at 5660 Sioux Dr., on Thursdays from 2 to 4
p.m., continuing through Aug. 4.

Workshops are free for participants over the age of 60, but
donations are welcome, and the course is endorsed by the National
Administration on Aging.
