On Oct. 17, labor and community leaders announced that medical cannabis workers in Colorado, which number more than 8,000 people, have voted to join the United Commercial and Food Workers Union’s new division of “Medical Cannabis and Hemp Workers.”
The division falls in Union Local 7, which has more than 25,000 members from Colorado and Wyoming. The announcement took place at the UFCW Local 7’s office in Wheat Ridge.
Union Local 7 members work in retail food, pharmacy, agriculture, food processing and health care.
Nationally, the UFCW has more than one million members across America and aims to improve the lives of workers, families and communities, according to its website.
