On Oct. 17, labor and community leaders announced that
medical cannabis workers in Colorado, which number more than 8,000 people, have
voted to join the United Commercial and Food Workers Union’s new division
of “Medical Cannabis and Hemp
Workers.”

The division falls in Union Local 7, which has more than
25,000 members from Colorado and Wyoming. The announcement took place at the
UFCW Local 7’s office in Wheat Ridge.

Union Local 7 members work in retail food, pharmacy,
agriculture, food processing and health care.

Nationally, the UFCW has more than one million members
across America and aims to improve the lives of workers, families and
communities, according to its website.
