Emich triplets open new restaurant 

A new restaurant will try to succeed in a location on 13th Street where many have failed, as Boulder restaurateurs the Emich triplets open Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place.

The eatery’s location, 2027 13th St., has changed hands at least five times since 2009, from RedFish to the Colorado Brewing Company to the Boulder Draft House to Los Oasis, which closed in September.

Shine will separate itself from past occupants in a few ways, says co-founder Jill Emich, who along with sisters Jennifer and Jessica, hopes to build on the success of former Boulder restaurant Trilogy.

Most notably, Shine will benefit from a strong working relationship with landlord Stephen Tebo, founder and owner of Tebo Development, which owns the property. If high rent contributed to other restaurants failing in the space, Jill Emich says, the owner has offered to help Shine.

“We’ve worked with him in the past and he was very willing to work with us on what we can do in that space,” she says. “We said, ‘This is what we can do numbers-wise,’ and he worked with us on that.”

In the back, Shine will host live music and dancing, Emich says, with an emphasis on the flexibility of the space.

“The space is very versatile. It’s going to be live music, private events, private parties, all kinds of stuff,” she says. “The stage is being custombuilt so we can move it around and have more room for dancing, and if it’s a bigger band we can accommodate that.”

March of Dimes to feature Boulder’s top chefs

The area’s top chefs will show off their skills at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the March of Dimes Signature Chef ’s Auction at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield.

The event will benefit the nonprofit organization’s programs for promoting healthy moms and babies, and reducing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The featured chefs of the event include Fabio Flagiello of Bácaro, Matthew Jansen and Justin Anthony of Mateo and Radda, Kevin Kidd of SALT, Lachlan Mackinnon- Patterson of Frasca Food and Wine, Hugo Matheson of The Kitchen, Salvatore Proia of the Bitter Bar, Matt Tobin of Tahona Tequila Bistro & Pearl Street Steak Room and Mike Trimmer of Brasserie Ten Ten.

Individual seats are $150 and corporate tables (which include 10 seats and marketing benefits) may be purchased for $2,500. Reservations can be made by calling the March of Dimes at 303-692-0011 or visiting marchofdimes.com/colorado.

Door-to-Door delivers Thanksgiving

Ted’s to offer turkey meal

This Thanksgiving, the Boulder location of Ted’s Montana Grill will be serving a three-course classic turkey meal for guests who want to skip the cooking.

The meal will start with a side salad or a cup of either tomato soup or Karen’s Flying-D Bison Chili. They will be followed by turkey and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, herb dressing, country-style green beans, Aunt Fannie’s squash casserole and cranberry sauce. Dessert will be an apple pecan crisp.

The meal is $23 per person, and $11 for kids. Ted’s will also be offering other meal options for the day and half-price bottles of wine.
