Oatmeal Festival returns
Lafayette will host the 16th annual Quaker Oatmeal Festival from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
The family event, which focuses on a healthy lifestyle, includes an oatmeal breakfast, certified 5K, health fair and oatmeal baking contest.
The oatmeal breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Pioneer Elementary, 101 East Baseline Rd. The Health Fair, which will feature more than 50 booths, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center at 111 West Baseline Rd. The Quicker Quaker 5K Walk/Run, which starts at 9:30 a.m., will begin at the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, at 200 East Baseline Rd. The 5K Walk/Run is open to runners and walkers of all skill levels. Kids, strollers and dogs are welcome (limit of one dog per participant). Cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. The 5K fees are $17 in advance until Jan. 13, and $27 on race day. Fees also include the oatmeal breakfast.
A free shuttle will run continuously between the Flatirons Community Church at 350 S. Boulder Rd. and Pioneer Elementary from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To register, visit www.lafayettecolorado.com or call 303-666-9555.
Smiling Moose expands menu
Smiling Moose Deli has recently added new items to its menu.
The signature Mighty Mo, a cheeseburger grinder, now has an entire line that incorporates southwestern, BBQ and vegetarian Boca burger versions. In addition, breakfast burritos are served all day, custom-chopped salads are prepared according to the customer’s wishes, and hot or iced espressos have become popular. The kids’ menu has been expanded and now includes a pizza bagel and a yummy treat. Smiling Moose Deli also has a gluten-free menu that includes soups, salads and sandwiches.
Smiling Moose, which got its start in Colorado, recently opened a store in Bozeman Mont.
