Santorum Denies Questioning Obama’s Christianity

Rick Santorum pushed back against claims Sunday that he challenged President Obama’s Christian beliefs when he said the White House policies are based on “some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.” It wasn’t just an off-the-cuff remark either. When he was asked about his words later, Santorum suggested Obama practices a different kind of Christianity, reports the Associated Press.

“In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of Christianity,” he said. “If the president says he's a Christian, he's a Christian.” He then accused Obama of reaching a “new low in this country’s history of oppressing religious freedom,” referring to the rule that employers provide contraceptives as part of health-care plans, according to Bloomberg
