Play It Again Sports offers hockey fans chance to win an hour Jack Johnson

Play It Again Sports has teamed up again with Bauer Hockey to offer the “Practice of a Lifetime” sweepstakes for the second straight year in the United States. Featuring a grand prize one-hour hockey practice for up to 20 participants on the winner’s home ice, NHL pro Jack Johnson of the Los Angeles Kings will lead the sweepstakes winner and his or her teammates through the session. The promotion is being held through Dec. 31, 2009 at participating Play It Again Sports stores throughout the United States, including the local store located at 653 S Broadway in Boulder.

“We know that many residents in the Boulder area are avid hockey fans, so we’re very pleased to offer this unique opportunity to our customers,” said Sue Stapleton of Play It Again Sports of Boulder. “Sharing practice time with Jack Johnson is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so we encourage people to stop into our store and sign up for the sweepstakes.”

Last year’s sweepstakes gave Superior, Wisconsin-teen Kyler Moss the opportunity to lead practice with NHL pro Phil Kessel. The practice took place on August 15, 2009 with more than 300 local residents in the stands, cheering on Moss and his teammates.

“We are thrilled to partner again with Bauer Hockey for this exciting sweepstakes and to bring the opportunity to our customers to win a dream practice with NHL pro Jack Johnson,” said Pat Quinn, brand director of Play It Again Sports. “With nearly 350 locations in the United States, Play It Again Sports stores are a top destination for hockey players and their families who are seeking quality used and brand new sporting goods equipment. Hockey products lead our sales in many of the markets we serve. This promotion is a way for our stores to provide their hockey customers with an opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

A defenseman for the Kings, Johnson, 22, first joined the organization in 2007. In his rookie year, he was presented with the Kings’ Best Newcomer Award (Mark Bavis Memorial Award) and Outstanding Defenseman Award, voted by the Kings’ media in 2008. He also finished in the top three among NHL rookies for average ice time and blocked shots. He concluded his 2009 season tied for first among Kings defensemen with six goals and three power-play goals and first among NHL defensemen with three shootout goals.

Practice of a Lifetime sweepstakes participants must be 13 years of age or older as of Nov. 15, 2009. In addition to the grand prize practice session with Johnson, Bauer Hockey skates, sticks, T-shirts and hats will be awarded as additional prizes. Sweepstakes forms are available at participating stores. For a complete list of participating Play It Again Sports stores and the official sweepstakes rules, visit www.bauer.com/practice.
