National Parks Create 10 Times the Dollars They Cost

In 2010 the federal government gave the National Park Service
$2.7 billion and the return on investment was $31 billion and 258,400
jobs.
According to a just-out, peer-reviewed study on the
economic value of the NPS, most of the revenue was generated by lodging
and food bought by visitors, who totaled a whopping 281 million — the
equivalent of 90 percent of the U.S. population.

Among the top earning and employing parks:

Yellowstone: $334 million, 4,900 jobs
Glen Canyon N.R.A.: $186 million, 2,345 jobs
Shenandoah National Park: $71.8 million, 1,087 jobs
Grand Teton: $424 million, 6,300 jobs
Grand Canyon: $415 million, 6,167 jobs
Yosemite: $354 million, 4,602 jobs
