Tidbites | Greenbriar holds final garden harvest dinner

The Greenbriar Inn is preparing to hold the last of its Garden Harvest Dinner Series dinners at 6 p.m. Sept. 20.

True to the farm-to-table movement, the Inn’s four-course meal of American classics will feature fruits and vegetables from its 15-year-old vegetable gardens. The dinner will also include a seasonal cocktail.

Tickets for the event are $45 per person, and reservations can be made by calling 303-440-7979.

GROWE FOUNDATION CELEBRATES LOCAL FOOD

On Sept. 15, the Growe Foundation will hold a daylong celebration of locally grown food. As part of the celebration, guests can purchase tickets to Isabelle Farm Family Day and Jax’s Fish to Farm Dinner.

Isabelle Farm Family Fun Day, which includes farm tours, hay rides, zucchini races, pot painting, face painting and live entertainment from Earth Guardians and Swamp Koolers, will take place 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Food will be provided by Big Red F Restaurant Group chefs, including farm-fresh gazpacho, a grill station, a fire pit station and desserts by Nate Miller. Family passes, which include tickets for two adults and two children, will be available for $59, a single adult pass costs $20, and a single child pass costs $15. Big Red F chefs will also prepare a five-course farm dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. the same day. Each course will be prepared by a different chef from Jax’s Fish House and Oyster Bar. Wines will be provided by Jack Rabbit Hill Farm Vineyards. In addition to eating at a community table overlooking the farm, guests will have the opportunity to meet the chefs and farmers, and walk through the fields. Seating is limited, and tickets can be purchased ahead of time at www.regonline.com/fishtofarmdinner for $125 per person. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Growe Foundation.

BEER-CENTRIC RESTAURANT REPLACES BJ’S PIZZA

West Flanders Brewing Company is set to open on Sept. 24 in the space once inhabited by BJ’s Pizza on the Pearl Street Mall.

The new brewpub is owned by Mark and Chris Heinritz, who have owned The Sink since 1992. The pair will be joined by operating partner Barry Wolfman, brewmaster Brian Lutz and executive chef Jamie Lucas. The group says it hopes to pair food with beer in a way that celebrates both beer and community.

West Flanders Brewing Company will be open seven days a week, 11 a.m. - 1 a.m., and will serve lunch, dinner and late-night snacks. For more information, visit http://wfbrews.com.

TWIRL BOULDER CELEBRATES OPENING, NEW APP

Twirl Boulder, a local frozen yogurt shop, will be holding a five-day-long grand opening event Sept. 17-21. In addition to the opening, Twirl Boulder is celebrating the launch of LevelUp, a free app.

LevelUp allows customers to play with their phones and save money. The app offers customer rewards programs, and doesn’t require merchants to pay a processing fee.

As part of the celebration, owner Robin Luff has organized events and fundraisers, including performances by local musicians, a magic show, Hunger Games giveaways and a “How do you twirl?” video competition. Guests will also have the opportunity to donate to one or more of five charities.
