Spring 'Voice' judges shakeup: Usher, Shakira in, Cee-Lo, Christina out

A stunning shift will rock the spinny judge chairs of NBC's The Voice in its upcoming spring season, as two new judges, R&B hipster Usher and Latina hip-shaker Shakira, will take the seats of R&B hipster Cee-Lo Green and white/Latina hip-shaker Christina Aguilera.

Green and Aguilera are on hiatus, NBC says, not permanently gone. Both are very busy with other projects, including Green's involvement in the reunion of the Goodie Mob and Aguilera's latest album and tour.

No clues so far how Shakira is expected to judge a singing competition.

I love that every season of The Voice has been different from the last! I’ve been on vacation for the past two weeks, so I had the first few episodes of this season waiting for me on my Hopper. I love that they were just sitting there waiting for me! I didn’t believe that Xtina and Cee-Lo wouldn’t be around for the spring when I overheard one of the girls I work with at DISH talking about it earlier today, that is until reading it now. That’s good that they’re keeping their careers varied, but I just hope Usher and Shakira can fill those big ‘ol shiny shoes!
