Tidbites | Drinks, food featured at Boulder's Fall Fest

Fall is here, and what better way to welcome it than to spend time downtown on the Pearl Street Mall with some good beer and food?

From Sept. 21 to Sept. 23, the Downtown Boulder Inc. will host Fall Fest, an eclectic mix of artists, musicians and food vendors to celebrate the start of the season. Avery Brewery beer, along with food from Beans, Inc., Falafel King and the West End Tavern, will be available along 13th Street all night.

There will also be wine and margaritas to accompany the stroll down Pearl Street.

The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 21, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 22 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 23.

Remember the stubby glass bottles that were filled with colorful fizzy goodness? PoP Shoppe’s soda has returned to our neck of the woods.

With the return of seven PoP Shoppe flavors — cream soda, lime ricky, black cherry, root beer, orange, grape and pineapple — you can now get soda just like you remember it, and they are all now made with pure cane sugar.

PoP Shoppe closed its doors during the ’80s due to competition from private label grocery brands, but businessman Brian Alger bought the trademark in 2002 in hopes of bringing back his favorite childhood soda.

Today PoP Shoppe is available in convenience and grocery retailers around the U.S., including Liquor Mart in Boulder and other stores in the Boulder/Denver area.

Ted’s Montana Grill, which has a location on Pearl Street in Boulder, is beginning its final fundraising drive as part of its 10th anniversary year, to fulfill its $150,000 pledge to the Dine Out For No Kid Hungry program run by the organization Share Our Strength.

In the national program, thousands of restaurants make the commitment to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. Ted’s Montana Grill is among one of the various chains that have agreed to participate in the cause and reward its customers when they choose to donate. Ted’s Montana Grill has also taken its pledge to social media, providing $5 gift certificates to fans who donate $5 or more through their Facebook page.

Restaurant guests are able to directly donate to the cause by circling donation amounts of $1, $5 or $10 on their receipts. Guests who donate will receive the same offer, applicable when they make a future purchase of $20 or more.

The fundraising event at Ted’s Montana Grill will run through Sept. 22. Gift certificate offers through Facebook will last through Sept. 30. Donations are also being accepted online through the end of the year at www.strength.org/teds.
