Felix Baumgartner has been preparing for Monday, Oct. 8 for years.
On that date, the extreme BASE jumper will travel 22 miles up, then 22 miles down. Baumgartner is planning to become the first person to break the sound barrier without a vehicle when he jumps from 120,000 feet above Roswell, N.M.
It'll be the highest and fastest freefall ever. Baumgartner will wear a special suit, similar to an astronaut's suit, since he will start from so high that the air will be too thin to breathe.
