Ch-ch-changes: Adam Ondra discusses Norwegian 5.15c route

A cave in Norway holds the world’s hardest climbing route, and Adam Ondra just sent it.

Change, a 55-meter route Ondra completed over the weekend, is proposed to be graded 5.15c, or 9b in Europe. The sport route was “significantly harder than all the other 9b’s I’ve done,” the Czech climber told an Italian site in an exclusive interview.

Ondra worked on the route over the summer and returned to send it last week.

“I had almost quit believing that I’d succeed this season, I kept failing
and as I said, it was beginning to become really hard psychologically,
because of these conditions, because I was beginning to lose shape,” Ondra said. “And
now I’m just so happy.”
