This isn't the traditional English trifle (shoot, I just lost Will and Kate). But variations of this dessert are abundant, so we shouldn't be ticking anybody off too bad. I chose my layers as pound cake, strong espresso, thinly sliced strawberries, whipped cream, toasted almonds and chocolate shavings.

This isn't the old-school, pound of butter, pound of sugar, pound of eggs, pound of flour recipe that your Grandma used to make. Although delicious, that recipe could fill up an army, and unless your household has great portion control, you will want to make this recipe instead.

Although this isn't a treat you will see popping up on a Frasca menu anytime soon, it sure is a fun thing to do with the kids and the kid at heart. No matter how fancy-pants you are, Rice Krispie treats always somehow satisfy. This is where the - don't fix it - part comes into play, because I am putting my own little twist on it.

It is rich, moist and has a deep chocolate flavor. The wonderful part is the simplicity of ingredients and producing a dessert worth serving anytime, anywhere. You can use semi-sweet chocolate, or of course you can use a higher level or lower level of chocolate this dessert responds to all levels of fancy.

I know, very anti-climatic after my babbling, but this treat is delicious, reasonably simple, and fits so well into this wonderful month I call February. I like to cut and serve these big they are pretty and rustic all at the same time. And that's why I went with bar instead of square.

These cupcakes, besides being tasty, are really pretty and fun to make. I add a bit of champagne to the batter, which makes them light and fluffy, and I add a bit to the chocolate frosting. Of course, this goes without saying, but the rest of the champagne I just enjoy right out of the bottle I mean, I use a glass, for cupids sake.

While this is just another Saturday night at my house, minus the polka dot bikini (I look much better in stripes), I realize many of you might have the winter blues right about now. How about we make something that will have us all singing Bob Marley and dreaming of ocean breezes blowing through our hair?.

This particular dessert might not scream comfort to you, but I think comfort means different things to different people (yeah, I'm observant like that). You might crave a warm slice of pie or a steaming cup of homemade cocoa, but for me its buttery goodness that melts in your mouth.
