By Dr. Jenni Skyler
I think it痴 safe to say that we are a compulsive society and all of us are obsessed with something. In Boulder, our obsessions tend to be mountain biking the Marshall Mesa Trail or training for the Bolder Boulder. For me, I知 addicted to those free samples at Whole Foods.

The prostate pleasure principle

By Dr. Jenni Skyler
On the backside of our body we have an erogenous zone that痴 a little less known: the anus. Of course, women have always had a ways of preventing pregnancy. In 1500 B.C., Egyptians used a mixture of ground dates, acacia bark and honey to create a spermicidal product, and crocodile dung for an anti-pregnancy suppository. In 1839, the Charles Goodyear company put its rubber to the road (less literally), creating a vulcanized rubber condom.

The sex behind population control

By Dr. Jenni Skyler
As taboo as it is to talk about sexual pleasure in the bedroom, talking about population control can be even more contentious. We need to have sex to make babies thats obvious. But in a world that is running out of room and resources, we would do well to consider how many we have.

Eight spheres of intimacy

By Dr. Jenni Skyler
When I was a little infant sexologist, my first mentor was Professor Dr. Marilyn Volker, sexuality educator extraordinaire. I remember her emphasizing that sex was not solely about genital friction or the variety of erotic activities in which one could engage.

Experiential sex ed

By Dr. Jenni Skyler
Like taking a tour through Glacier Ice Cream, sex education comes in many flavors. One flavor offers abstinence-based education, the message of which is to refrain from sex before marriage. Another flavor is a comprehensive sex education that includes an abstinence option accompanied by STD and pregnancy prevention via condom use.
