The problem is plurality voting, which is a fancy term for one person, one vote; most votes wins. Yes, everybody from your eighth-grade civics teacher to Schoolhouse Rock taught you that this is democracy, and we fought the British for exactly this right.

Its a reality weve more or less become used to over the past 60 or so years, but we are not immune to the corrosive effect this has upon civil discourse. Journalism has become a joke in the eyes of many who would assume our attention spans are too short and our ignorance too smug.

There are many reasons Boulder County citizens should support open space by voting yes on 1B. One big reason is to support our local economy. Make no mistake about it investing in open space is key to our local business climate. It is a big part of the reason that Boulder County has been so successful in attracting employers.

I teach at the University of Delaware. One of my classes this semester is for freshmen. Its called First Year Experience (FYE). The intent is to try to steer the kinder away from the minefields, particularly in their first semester/year.

To think that I have been a longtime fan of Mahers show! I mean, sure, ODonnell had an adolescent obsession with witchcraft, but one should not dismiss her just because she still thinks its real and that its something she thinks she has to seriously apologize for.

I am 40 and work for the U.S. Postal Service in Pennsylvania. Someday I would like to move out West or down South as it is generally less hectic and more cordial than the Northeast and parts of the Mid-Atlantic. Our young women dont remember a time when a woman didnt have the right to make her own reproductive choices. They dont remember that it took two Supreme Court rulings to make it legal for women to use birth control. And they assume that Roe v. Wade is the law of the land and will remain that way.
