A glimpse into firefighter camp

ore than 915 firefighters from around the nation joined the fire fight in Fourmile Canyon last week, with a good handful of them volunteer firefighters. In the first few days of the fire, volunteers from 35 regional fire districts jumped in, trying to save homes and contain the fire.

Loopz fits in a video game-infested world

In 2010 most kids have at least one video game system. Whether it’s a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP, a Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360, video games seem to dominate a considerable amount of a kid’s leisure time. You don’t often see kids playing with board games and toys like they did in the 70’s and 80’s. Gone are memory games like Simon or electronic handheld games like Merlin but it appears that legendary game maker Mattel is trying to elbow it’s way back into a world ruled by video games.

Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae rock Denver’s Fillmore

Erykah Badu is just about a month into her Out My Mind, Just in Time Tour with rotating opening acts that so far has included N.E.R.D., Bilal, Lupe Fiasco, B.O.B. and Maxwell. But for most of the tour, including the Denver show at the Fillmore Auditorium on June 16, the opening act has been 24-year old Kansas City native and Atlanta transplant Janelle Monae.
