JUSTIN’S RELEASES CANDY BAR LINE

Boulder-based Justin’s will launch an all-natural candy bar line at the Natural Products Expo West this week in Anaheim, Calif. Available in three gourmet flavors — Milk Chocolate Peanut, Dark Chocolate Peanut and Milk Chocolate Almond — Justin’s Candy Bars are a blend of organic chocolate, nuts, caramel and nougat.

“When hunger strikes, the last thing I want to do is read through a list of unpronounceable ingredients. That’s why I’ve created a candy bar you can feel good about eating,” says founder and CEO Justin Gold. “Satisfaction, simplified.”

The company says its All-Natural Candy Bars contain 25 percent less sugar, 50 percent more protein and 100 percent more fiber than the leading conventional candy bar, Snickers.

Justin’s uses all-natural and organic ingredients; has no hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, preservatives or trans fats; and is also gluten-free.

Justin’s Candy Bars are currently available for 90 days exclusively at Whole Foods Market and will go into national distribution with other natural retailers in June.

WINE MERCHANT HOSTS CLASS

Master Sommelier and Boulder Wine Merchant owner Brett Zimmerman will host a wine class with Ben Parsons of the Infinite Monkey Theorem Winery on Friday, March 9.

Parsons worked as a winemaker in New Zealand and went to the school of Oenology at the University of Adelaide in Australia before coming to Colorado to work on the Western Slope. In 2008, he started his own “urban winery” in Denver.

Four wines will be poured at the free class, where participants sip, swill and engage in a group Q&A. All participants will receive 15 percent off their wine purchases.

The class will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the shop, at 2690 Broadway in Boulder. To RSVP, call 303-443-6761, and for more information see www.boulderwine.com.

Cured is also hosting “101 Education Series: Food and Wine Pairing” at 5:30 p.m. on March 8. For those who have always wondered what wine to pour with dinner or which bottle to open to complement dessert, the hour-long workshop covers the basics of wine and food pairing.
