SUPER PAIRINGS FOR SUPER SUNDAY

Restaurants around Boulder are offering a step up from Bud Light and chips and salsa for the Super Bowl.

Black Cat: Farm-Table-Bistro is hosting a “Super Dinner” beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, featuring Italian winemakers who practice biodynamic farming, a method which treats a farm as a single living organism and aims to improve the health of the land and the surrounding ecosystem.

Dinner for the evening will be an eight-course tasting menu, prepared by Black Cat Executive Chef Eric Skokan, with dishes to pair with each wine. Dinner is $85, or $130 with wine pairings. Produce from Black Cat Farm will be used wherever possible, and the farm will provide the chicken, pork and lamb for the meal as well. EVEN MORE MOE’S

The Southern soul food chain Moe’s Original Bar B Que opened a new Boulder location on Jan. 31.

The 30th Street location has a rustic, woody and comforting feel, with a clear separation between the family dining area and bar top seating along the open-air windows. The restaurant also offers a 16-seat patio, a full premium bar and a rockin’ nightlife scene.

Moe’s is located at 675 30th St. in Boulder.

ALCOHOL AND ART

The second installment in Twisted Pine Brewery’s Twisted Artisan Ale project will be released at noon on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Twisted Pine’s Walnut Street ale house. February’s beer is an Imperial India Black Ale named Canis Lupulus. The resinous, dark, double-hopped beer carries an evergreen and lemon scent. Canis weighs in at 10 percent ABV and 90 IBU.

The label for Canis Lupulus features a piece called “Silver Stars and Moon” by local Boulder artist Chris Huang, who will be on hand for the release Saturday at the brewery. The Artisan Ale Project is a yearlong celebration of Colorado’s artistic creativity. Each month in 2012, Twisted Pine will release a new, small-batch beer in 750 ml bottles with labels featuring a different Colorado artist.
