A Boulder restaurant is inviting you to drink for free with your best friend.

Baker St. Pub and Grill in Boulder has launched a program called “Barks and Brews,” in which patrons who bring their dogs to the establishment’s patio on Saturdays get a free beer.

The offer is good all day on Saturdays.

Baker St. also offers trivia on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. The festivities start at 7 p.m. the two weeknights and at 9 p.m. on Saturdays. First prize on Mondays and Wednesdays is $100, and it’s twice that amount on Saturdays.

Participants can also compete for bar tabs, free appetizers, gift certificates and other prizes.


Odell Brewing Co. and Lucky Pie Pizza and Tap House LoDo are joining forces for a special beer pairing dinner on June 19.

Lucky Pie Pizza, which also has a location in Louisville, will serve five courses of seasonal farm-to-table cuisine at its LoDo restaurant in Denver, and Odell will offer five distinctive beers.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will start with a welcoming gathering where guests can talk beer with one of Odell’s brewers. The featured beers are the Loose Leaf American Session Ale; the Tree Shaker Imperial Peach IPA, made with Colorado peaches; the Amuste Imperial Porter, which includes Tempranillo grape juice; the brewery’s “retired” barrel-aged Deconstruction American Wild Ale and the Nitro Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout. The keg of Lugene is one of the last kegs available in Colorado until next fall.


Lucky Pie Chef Joe Troupe’s culinary itinerary will pair with the evening’s beers: Wisdom Farm’s Chicken Ballotine with Hazel Dell mushrooms, an organic beet salad with a local chevre and potato croquette, prawns, grilled Triple M Bar lamb with Cassoulet and pickled lamb’s heart, and, for dessert, chocolate truffles and gorgonzola dulce.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Wahoo’s Fish Taco has added a new “Citrus Slaw Taco” to its menu.

The new taco includes a choice of fillings (chicken breast, carnitas, fish or carne asada) with slaw ingredients of cabbage, cilantro, onions and carrots tossed in lime juice and olive oil. The taco made its debut at all stores on May 25.

“The Citrus Slaw Taco is a burst of citrusy zing mixed with our signature Wahoo’s flavor and will leave you wanting more,” says Wing Lam, co-founder of Wahoo’s. “Developed from a unique family recipe, this new menu item will be a hit with our customers.” Inspired by Cindy Lee, co-founder Mingo Lee’s wife, the Citrus Slaw Taco blends with Wahoo’s eclectic Mexican/Brazilian/Asian menu delivered with a Hawaiian North Shore vibe.

There are currently 67 Wahoo’s locations throughout Colorado and the rest of the nation, including stores in California, Texas and Hawaii, with new locations opened in New York, Nebraska and Nevada. There are 10 locations with full-service bars. Additional stores are scheduled to open this year in Austin, Texas; Woodland Hills, Calif.; and Japan. The Taste of Fort Collins, the June 7-9 celebration of local food, music and art, is leaping into the digital age with a new free app.

The program, downloadable via the iTunes App Store, the Google Play Store and the festival website (www.tasteoffortcollins.com), offers a host of features, including:

• The full festival schedule and map

• A feature allowing the purchase of tickets directly from the app

• A social-media section for patrons to upload photos and status updates

• A list of participating restaurants and vendors

• Information about bands and sponsors

• Special offers

“This app opens a whole new world of fun experiences for our festival-goers,” says Jason Ornstein, owner of Team Player Productions, which organizes the Taste of Fort Collins. “Not only does it provide needed tools like the schedule and map to provide easy access for the festival-goer, but it enhances the experience by allowing our Taste of Fort Collins community to share their fun with others. Plus, you can really get to know our bands and local restaurants better and connect with them directly from the app. And new this year, menu items have been expertly paired with beer suggestions by Odell and New Belgium brewmasters.”

The Taste of Fort Collins features more than 15 bands, 30 restaurants, 150 exhibitors and a “Kidz Zone.”

Prices are $5 before 3 p.m. and $10 after 3 p.m. Children under 12, seniors over 65 and military personnel with ID get in for free. Weekend passes and VIP tickets are available online.

Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Special Olympics Colorado, a local nonprofit improving the lives of more than 13,000 athletes in Colorado through sports training, competitions, leadership programs and social engagements. Last year, Taste raised more than $25,000 for Special Olympics.
