Sprouts on Arapahoe is reopening after the flood.

You can get to the Greenbriar

“Apparently a lot of people think we are gone!”

That’s a sad line to read in a press release, but following Boulder County’s massive floods, it’s heartening news from The Greenbriar Inn.

Co-owner Emma Goddard says the Greenbriar, located at Lefthand Canyon Drive and Foothills Highway — that’s U.S. 36 north of Boulder — is open for business. The Greenbriar is located south of the section of U.S. 36 that is closed, so Boulder residents can access it just by heading up 36.

The Greenbriar is open during its regular hours. Its website is www.greenbriarinn.com and its phone number is 303-440-7979.

Oktober is still coming

Boulder’s uphill little brother will still hold its Oktoberfest, organizers have announced.

Nederland’s first annual Oktoberfest Bavarian Celebration might be off to a rocky start, but it’s still on, minus the Mountain Bike Race, which has been canceled. The Sept. 28 celebration, which is free, will feature seasonal fall beers from five regional craft brewers, bratwurst from local company Boulder Sausage and pizza from Backcountry Pizza.

As-yet-unnamed bands will be performing Bavarian music live, also with free admission. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. The event will be held at the Jeff Guercio Memorial Ballfield at East and E. 2nd streets.

Do LoDo in your robe

The upcoming Great American Beer Festival in Denver spawns dozens of related events. The Oct. 10-12 event itself is packed annually, and associated or not-formally-associated events have spun off left and right.

Most — we might venture to guess, until this year, all — let you wear regular clothes. That’s not the case for a new event coordinated by Lucky Pie of Louisville and Denver, the Pour House, Freshcraft and Avery Brewing Company. Dubbed the Robe One Out party and bar crawl, the Saturday, Oct. 12, event reflects the exhaustion, adventurousness and who-cares-anymore attitude of the last night of GABF, Avery National Marketing Director Darin McGregor says.

“Every year by Saturday of GABF we are all wiped out, all of us — brewery reps, the bartenders, even the hardiest beer nerds,” McGregor says in a press release. “At that point we just want to relax and enjoy the rest of the celebration. Last year our National Sales Director Dustin Lemoine and I snagged our bathrobes from our hotel and wore them out to the bars. It was a funny way of showing how tired we were. We had so much fun we decided to make that concept its own party.”

The party starts at 10 p.m. Oct. 12 at all three Denver locations: Freshcraft, Lucky Pie in LoDo and The Pour House Pub. Avery-embroidered robes will be available for purchase, as will rare Avery beers.

Sprouts opens again at The Village Shopping Center

Boulder’s return to normalcy following the Sept. 11-13 floods continues, as Sprouts in The Village Shopping Center has opened up after cleanup.

The Texas/Arizona Sprouts Farmers Market chain has announced that its 2525 Arapahoe Ave. location reopened for business Sept. 25 after “extensive flood damage and remodeling,” according to an email from representative Kim Rockley.

Sprouts has also announced several donations and specials to coincide with flood relief efforts. Shoppers at the chain can buy bags full of groceries to be donated to the Community Food Share food bank for 10 percent off from Sept. 25 to Oct. 6, and from Oct. 4 to 6 shoppers’ own purchases will be 10 percent off, with Sprouts donating another 10 percent of its net proceeds to Foothills United Way.
