Zpizza launches natural pepperoni

In honor of National Pizza Month and the company’s 25th anniversary, Zpizza has launched “Pure Pepperoni,” which contains no MSG, preservatives or nitrites.

For the month of October, Zpizza will donate $10 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for every case of pepperoni purchased by Zpizza locations, and will sell $1 pins to further help the cause.

Zpizza is asking customers to help design its next pizza creation through the “Pure Pepperoni Design Your Dream Pizza” recipe contest, held until Oct. 31. To participate, customers create their own pepperoni pizza on the Zpizza Facebook page. The winning recipe, announced on Nov. 21, will be featured on the menu during January’s National Pizza Week, and may become a permanent menu item. The winner will also receive free pizza for a year.

Chipotle foundation produces film

The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation has produced a short film to help promote a Halloween fundraiser at all Chipotle restaurants.

The film, entitled “Abandoned,” is designed to raise awareness about the economic hardship that family farmers face in the contemporary American agricultural system.

Chipotle’s “Boorito” fundraiser aims to raise up to $1 million for the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation and Farm Aid.

Those who visit any Chipotle restaurant between 6 p.m. and closing on Halloween, while dressed in a costume inspired by the family farm, can purchase a burrito, bowl, salad or tacos for $2. Last Halloween, Chipotle donated $1 million to The Jamie Oliver Food Revolution.

Details about the fundraiser can be found at chipotle.com/boorito.
