Results of mountain transit study out

Boulder County recently asked residents, commuters and recreational users of its mountain towns to provide thoughts on potential mountain transit service serving their communities.

Nearly 500 responses to the survey were collected from July 14 to Aug. 15. Among the key findings were that service frequency, hours and stop locations of potential bus service are the most important ridership criteria for new transit service. The results also show that almost 90 percent of the respondents visit Boulder County recreation areas outside their community at least a few times a month; 54 percent do so at least once a week. Brainard Lake, Eldora Resort and the Hessie and Fourth of July trailheads were listed as the most desired locations for recreation-oriented transit service. Complete survey results are available at www.bouldercounty.org/ newsroom/articlefiles/2343-SurveyResults.pdf.

Results from the survey are currently being used to create a transit system plan to be included in a Mountain Town Transit Feasibility Study report, which is expected to be completed in November.
