Internet Explorer security vulnerability: Dump IE for now, experts say

Hackers have discovered a way to attack computers running Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8 or 9 on Windows machines, exploiting a critical vulnerability.

Until Microsoft issues a fix, security experts say, it’s best to use another browser to avoid the issue. If you’re using IE 10 on a Windows 8 Preview computer, there’s no risk. Also, can we borrow your Rolls Royce.

Microsoft is working on a fix for the issue, which allows hackers to take advantage of corrupted memory on the user’s hard drive and install malicious code. Hackers can then take control of the user’s computer remotely.

As many as half of Internet users use Internet Explorer.
