NASA’s success story continued on the Red Planet today, as Mars rover Curiosity prepared to do greater testing and more movement, including taking samples with its drill and scoop arm.

Today, Curiosity “flexed” its wheel and arm capabilities, as the arm was extended for the first time since its landing. Based on its flexing movements so far, the rover is ready for more exploration.

“There’s a lot of exciting times in the future,” said NASA Lead Engineer Louise Jandura.
