Another gun massacre, another Wayne LaPierre press tour.

The NRA’s executive vice president appeared on a variety of news shows to defend gun ownership in the wake of the Navy Yard shooting Sept. 16, which left 12 people dead in the space of an hour.

LaPierre again ran through the responses he’s rehearsed in dozens of TV interviews after shootings like the Newtown school massacre and the Aurora movie theater massacre. He says people with evidence of mental health issues in a background check should be locked up.

“They need to be committed is what they need to be, and if they’re committed, they’re not at the Navy Yard,” LaPierre said in an interview on Meet the Press.
