Rick Santorum pushed back against claims Sunday that he challenged
President Obama’s Christian beliefs when he said the White House
policies are based on “some phony theology. Not a theology based on the
Bible. A different theology.” It wasn’t just an off-the-cuff remark
either. When he was asked about his words later, Santorum suggested
Obama practices a different kind of Christianity, reports the Associated Press.
“In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of
Christianity,” he said. “If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a
Christian.” He then accused Obama of reaching a “new low in this
country’s history of oppressing religious freedom,” referring to the
rule that employers provide contraceptives as part of health-care plans,
according to Bloomberg.
