World Bank: Climate change a huge issue

Global warming and climate change truly aren’t just for hippies any more.

The World Bank has announced that, if left unchecked, global warming could cause an increase in global temperatures of four degrees, which would have devastating effects on poorer countries.

The president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, announced the organization’s concerns in a conference call with reporters, warning that time is “very, very short” for countries to act on climate change.

“We will never end poverty if we don’t tackle climate change,” he said. “It is one
of the single biggest challenges to social justice today.”
