Austin Reed Sigg

As first posited in an Oct. 18 package of stories by Boulder Weekly, the suspect arrested Wednesday in the murder of Jessica Ridgeway not only lived in the same neighborhood as the 10-year-old girl, but has been implicated in the attempted assault of a female jogger at nearby Ketner Lake on Memorial Day.

Law enforcement officials announced on Oct. 24 that Austin Reed Sigg, 17, is expected to face charges related to the kidnapping and murder of Ridgeway as well as the attack on a 22-year-old woman who said her assailant tried to grab her and put a chemicalsoaked rag over her mouth at the lake on May 28.

The address listed for Sigg is his mother’s house at 10622 102nd Ave., which is within two blocks of Ketner Lake by trail. Police were searching the home as of press time Wednesday.

In the Oct. 18 package, BW explored research and evidence indicating that the suspect likely lived in the same neighborhood as Ridgeway due to studies that have been done on perpetrators’ “awareness space,” and that police were believed to be linking the murder to the earlier Ketner Lake incident.
