Boehner moves to ‘Plan B’ on fiscal cliff, concedes tax increases

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has indicated that he wants House Republicans to embrace “Plan B” to solve the so-called “fiscal cliff” — a plan that would allow for the tax increases Democrats are asking for.

Boehner called President Barack Obama last night, according to sources cited by Politico, to say he was going to encourage Republicans to limit tax increases wherever possible, but ultimately accept some if it meant reaching a compromise.

Obama has pushed Republicans to accept tax increases after Democrats gained seats in both houses in the recent election and Obama won re-election.
