‘Boulder Weekly’ lands two prestigious AAN awards

Boulder Weekly has been named a finalist in two different categories for prestigious international awards presented by the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN).

The 10-part series “The Ghosts of Valmont Butte,” which ran from January to May of 2012, placed among the top three in the “Investigative Reporting” category, in a field of weekly publications in the United States and Canada under a circulation of 50,000.

BW is also a top-three finalist in the category of “Cover Design” for selected covers printed in 2012.

The finalists were chosen from a field of more than 900 entries. Boulder Weekly had won five AAN awards in its 20-year history; the last came in 2009.

The winners will be announced during a reception on July 13 at the AAN Annual Convention in Miami.

The finalists were chosen by judges at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
